Welcome to the Happy, Free, and Paid podcast!
The first thing I want you to know is that happiness is real and is available to you.
You may have said it to yourself several times.
I just want to be happy.
Have you really stopped to consider, what does being happy actually mean?
Outside of having more money or being able to buy things, do you know what truly makes you happy? Have you allowed yourself a few minutes to dream of what generates the emotion of happiness? Have you allowed your brain to imagine the possibilities of your life? Have you allowed your brain and body to step out of survivor mode for a minute?
First, let’s define happiness for a bit. Happiness is an emotion. You generate it and experience it in your body.
We have been conditioned by society to believe that happiness is something that exists outside of us and something to be obtained.
Happiness is generated from our thoughts, not our life circumstances or achievements.
Meaning, the only way to experience happiness is allow myself to think thoughts that generate happiness.
Happiness for me is talking to myself with empathy, compassion, and kindness.
Happiness is having the audacity to daydream about future possibilities for my life.
Happiness is having the courage to go after those daydreams.
Happiness is allowing myself to choose the hard road that will lead me to evolving into the next version of myself.
Happiness begins in the mind.
The second thing I want you to know is that your happiness is worth the investment of time and money.
Most of you listening to this podcast are no longer living under the same circumstances you were born into.
You have degrees.
You got the good paying, stable, job your parents wanted you to get.
You pay your bills and some of everyone else’s.
You even started your own business.
While life ain’t perfect, it also ain’t what it used to be.
Sure you may have some debt, credit cards and student loans.
You probably feel like things are still tight every month.
And you’re probably hyper focused on making more money.
Now, let’s be clear. Money can solve a lot of problems.
But I know you’ve also heard that money can’t buy happiness.
Here’s what I’ve come to understand about this
More money has bought me security.
I’m able to pay all of my bills and still have play money left over.
I’m able to invest more time, money, and resources in myself and my business.
Money hasn’t been able to get me a new brain with new thoughts.
Money hasn’t had an impact on how I talk to myself or treat myself.
In fact, money has illuminated even more in all the ways I’m not loving myself in the ways I want.
The money itself did not bring me happiness.
However, I have been able to utilize money as a tool towards happiness.
Money has provided me with more opportunities to get support (coaches, courses, experiences) on changing my thoughts, how I talk to myself, and changing the relationship with myself.
I didn’t always have money, but I’ve always had dreams and hopes that life could be different.
When I didn’t have money, I was willing to invest time into building happiness.
I read any book I could get my hands on. I would use my library card or I would also go into the bookstore and read the book there. #reparations
When I learned about podcasts, I always had my earbuds in my ear listening to somebody’s episode. I took notes on the episodes, studied them in between classes and work, and did my best to apply those notes to my life.
You always have opportunities to learn and generate happiness in your body. The only thing to do is to decide that you want to do so.
The third thing I want you to know is that happiness brings relief, freedom, and more money.
I’m not here to tell you that if you just think positive, you’ll be happy. I’m saying it’s a piece of it.
I’m saying that even if you have dreams of a different future and see yourself upleveling into more evolved versions of yourself to experience the feeling of happiness, then you will have to accept that your brain will be your biggest asset, not money.
Your thoughts are the key to being happy, free, and paid.
I can’t wait to share with you my learning with you on this journey.
As cheesy and cliche as it may sound, I had to get happy first before I could be free or paid.
I had to allow myself to choose happiness.
I had to define happiness for myself first.
I had to practice courage to go after it.
What about you?
Are you allowing yourself to choose happiness?
